Southwood Lutheran Church

Nestled on 30 acres of rolling hills in a rapidly developing area of south Lincoln, Southwood Lutheran Church is the result of a decade-long process of analysis, master planning, and design. The campus was thoughtfully conceived to serve as both a spiritual landmark and a welcoming community presence, with a site orientation that frames views of the sanctuary and a circular entry courtyard that invites gathering and connection.

The design empowers the congregation to fulfill its mission of worship, service, and education through spaces that are both inspiring and functional. Upon entering, worshipers are welcomed by a rich palette of earth tones, stone, and cherry wood, all enhanced by abundant natural light. Clerestory windows illuminate the sanctuary, drawing focus to the altar and the refined detailing of the prominent cross while highlighting the warmth and texture of the natural materials.

Educational and fellowship spaces were designed with flexibility and growth in mind. The expansive education program includes age-specific classrooms organized around shared gathering areas, a youth suite with fellowship and study spaces, and comfortable rooms for adult learning with views of the surrounding landscape. Fellowship is further supported by a café and a large fellowship hall served by a commercial-grade kitchen, where a mix of seating options creates a relaxed setting for community, conversation, and connection.
