St. John Lutheran Church

St. John Lutheran Church

St. John Lutheran Church and School has long served as a cornerstone of faith and education in Seward, Nebraska. As the needs of the congregation and school continue to grow, Sinclair Hille Architects partnered with St. John to develop a comprehensive Master Plan that addresses aging facilities while supporting future ministry, education, and community use.

Developed through a collaborative process with church and school leadership, the Master Plan identifies replacement of the 1929 school building as the highest priority. Phase 1 introduces new classrooms, improved accessibility, updated building systems, and a welcoming new entrance aligned with parking for safer student drop-off and pick-up. The lower level includes a dedicated youth space with direct parking access to support secure after-hours use.

Subsequent phases focus on enhancing music, athletic, and support facilities, including a purpose-built band room, a new gym and multi-purpose space, expanded dining and kitchen areas, and additional church offices and meeting spaces. Together, these phased improvements create accessible, flexible, and enduring spaces that support St. John’s mission of faith, education, and community for generations to come.
