Mourning Hope

Mourning Hope Grief Center

Founded in 1994, Mourning Hope Grief Center exists to walk alongside children, adults, and families before and after the loss of a loved one. Through grief support groups, counseling, community education, and access to resources and referrals, the center provides compassionate care to those navigating one of life’s most difficult experiences. Its work supports not only individuals, but the strength and well-being of families throughout the Lincoln community.

For more than two decades, Mourning Hope delivered these essential services from a variety of rented locations, adapting as needs grew. In 2018, the organization took a significant step forward by planning a permanent home that could fully support its mission and expand its reach. This effort became the foundation of the “Make Room for Hope” capital campaign, reflecting a commitment to creating a lasting place of healing and connection.

The new Mourning Hope facility is intentionally designed to feel welcoming, safe, and comforting from the moment visitors arrive. With a residential scale and approachable architectural character, the building helps put children and families at ease. Inside, warm colors, thoughtful details, and purposefully designed spaces support the grieving process, creating an environment that fosters comfort, reflection, and the journey toward healing.
