Located at 9th and Q Streets in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Haymarket Parking Garage connects the character of the Historic Haymarket District with the larger scale of downtown. Designed by Sinclair Hille Architects in collaboration with AGA Consulting, the project provides 411 parking spaces and 2,000 square feet of retail space.
Along Q Street, red brick, stone detailing, and storefront proportions reflect the district’s pedestrian scale. The 9th Street facade responds to the downtown skyline and vehicular approach, with 20-foot brick pylons and beacon lights marking a gateway to the Haymarket. An elevator and stair tower anchors the corner, giving the public parking facility a recognizable presence.
Completed in fall 2002 under budget, the project received recognition for urban design and the integration of old and new architecture.
