Kooser & Adams Elementary Schools

Located in rapidly developing areas of Lincoln, Adams and Kooser Elementary Schools provide modern, secure, and community-focused learning environments for students from kindergarten through fifth grade, including early childhood special education programs. Each 95,000 SF facility is thoughtfully designed by Sinclair Hille Architects to serve a student capacity of 800 and is situated on a site adjacent to residential development and public park space. School sites include recreational fields and playgrounds, along with carefully planned staff and visitor parking and student drop-off areas that support daily operations and safe circulation.

Lincoln Public Schools challenged the design team to create elementary schools that foster engaging educational environments while also accommodating after-hours community use. In response, public-facing spaces such as administrative offices, media centers, and gymnasiums are located near the main entrances, while classrooms and support areas are organized for privacy and security. The clear separation of public and private zones enhances safety while allowing flexibility for community meetings and youth athletics outside of school hours.

To support the growing demand for early childhood education, Kooser Elementary includes a 2,772 SF expansion designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing early childhood wing. The addition features a Pre-K and kindergarten classroom with an age-appropriate restroom and storm shelter, as well as staff and maintenance support spaces. Careful attention to architectural continuity ensures that exterior masonry and interior finishes align with the original design, reinforcing both schools’ commitment to providing safe, welcoming, and adaptable learning environments for students and the broader community.
