Early Childhood Additions

Sinclair Hille was selected to provide architectural services for early childhood education expansions at four Lincoln Public Schools elementary schools—Kooser, Fredstrom, Roper, and Humann—in Lincoln, Nebraska. As part of Phase 4 of the voter-approved 2020 bond program, these projects represent a $7 million investment in Early Childhood education, expanding access to high-quality preschool environments that support student readiness and long-term success.

While each school shared common programmatic goals, every design solution was uniquely tailored to its campus—responding to existing architecture, site constraints, and operational needs. The projects include a mix of building additions and targeted interior renovations, delivering full-sized Pre-K/Kindergarten classrooms with integrated restrooms, staff planning areas, storage, and direct connections to outdoor play spaces. Secure circulation, thoughtful siting, and cohesive material selections ensure each expansion feels intentional, welcoming, and seamlessly integrated.

Fredstrom Elementary School
A new addition delivers two full-sized early childhood classrooms with integrated support spaces, improving accessibility and outdoor connections while carefully matching the school’s existing architectural character.

Humann Elementary School
Strategic interior renovations transformed adjacent space into two modern early childhood classrooms, enhancing functionality and exterior access while achieving significant cost efficiencies.

Roper Elementary School
A compact addition extends the early childhood wing with a new classroom, planning space, and shared storage, maintaining material continuity and creating a dedicated early childhood entry.

Kooser Elementary School
Designed as a seamless extension of the original building, this early childhood addition expands program capacity with a new classroom and support spaces that align with the school’s established aesthetic.
