Olsson Joplin Office Renovation

Located in a historic warehouse building in downtown Joplin, Missouri, the Olsson office renovation transformed approximately 14,000 square feet of space within a five-story structure originally constructed in 1915. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building has long been a recognizable part of the downtown district. Sinclair Hille Architects was engaged to help shape the interior workplace environment for Olsson’s growing regional team, contributing to the revitalization of a historic structure now supporting a vibrant mixed-use development in the city center.

The project highlights Sinclair Hille’s expertise in historic renovation and adaptive reuse within commercial office environments, transforming legacy structures into high-performing workplaces.

The design approach focused on maintaining the authentic character of the historic warehouse while introducing modern workplace functionality. Original structural elements and exposed brick surfaces were preserved wherever possible, allowing the building’s industrial history to remain visible within the interior environment. New office planning carefully balanced open collaboration areas with enclosed meeting spaces to support both focused work and team interaction.

The renovated fifth-floor office was designed to support Olsson’s expanding team while encouraging collaboration and flexibility in the workplace. Interior improvements include open workstation areas, meeting rooms, and informal gathering spaces that take advantage of the building’s generous floor plates and historic character. The project reflects Sinclair Hille’s experience in commercial office renovation and workplace design that supports evolving team dynamics and employee experience.

Today the Olsson Joplin office provides a modern, collaborative workspace within one of downtown Joplin’s most recognizable historic buildings. By adapting the warehouse structure for contemporary use, the project contributes to the continued revitalization of the district while supporting Olsson’s long-term growth and investment in the local community.

The project demonstrates how thoughtful workplace design can extend the life of historic buildings while supporting modern operational needs.
