Certified Piedmontese Awarded LEED Gold Certification

Certified Piedmontese Awarded LEED Gold Certification

July 7, 2021

Congratulations to Certified Piedmontese on receiving a LEED Gold Certification for their Corporate Headquarters located at 84th and Havelock in Lincoln, Nebraska. LEED is a program through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), whose mission is to transform the way buildings are designed, built, and operated to create healthy, sustainable environments that improve our quality of life. The building’s unique design features a rain barrel that collects runoff rainwater to be used for landscape irrigation and dynamic SageGlass windows that reduce the building’s energy footprint. SageGlass is an electrochromic glass that tints in response to the sun and eliminates the need for blinds or shades, allowing for an unobstructed view to outside.  To increase the building’s indoor environment quality, 90 percent of the interior space provides a direct line of sight to the exterior.

The LEED certification, which was administered by BranchPattern, was awarded on June 8th. The score was based on sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environment quality. The  32,000 square foot, two story mixed use building scored high in the following categories: indoor environment quality, water efficiency, and innovative design. The building houses Mercato, Casa Bovina, and the corporate offices for Certified Piedmontese.  Mercato is a retail store and butcher shop featuring Certified Piedmontese beef, and Casa Bovina is a restaurant and event space offering a fine dining experience with locally sourced ingredients including Certified Piedmontese beef. Certified Piedmontese beef is a lean beef with a great flavor profile that is sourced responsibly from a Nebraska cattle ranch. Sinclair Hille Architects was honored to be the Architect of Record for this innovative building design.
