What inspired you to pursue architecture or design?

From an early age I would enjoy looking at floor plans that were featured in my mom’s Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I would imagine myself walking through each room, imagining how each space would feel and function. That curiosity has stayed with me, however, I now like to find ways to improve the floor plan as well.

Which project taught you the most about collaboration?

The Permanent Supportive Housing project was a great lesson in collaboration. While the future residents were not directly involved, the process required extensive coordination among numerous individuals. We relied heavily on insights from precedent projects and worked closely with those responsible for operating the facility. Ultimately, we were able to design an environment that is both welcoming and secure.

What’s your favorite part of the design process?

Schematic Design and Design Development are some of my favorite parts of the design process. That is when we get to take all the different program and spaces needed in a client’s building and seamlessly fit them together like a puzzle.
